Fresh Meadow by Alison on long island

I never found this course to be as compelling as Alisons work at Century or at Milwaukee. It has two fine par fives(2&10)
that use rolling land really well. I also like  11, 12, and 18.
11 is a fine drop shot of about 210 yards. However,at times the course seems cramped and there are many parallel holes.Most putting surfaces seem unremarkable and less
interesting than those at Knollwood or Century. I wonder
what others think.  Thanks

Everyone's tastes are different.

I'm not particularly fond of # 11 as you are, but find many other holes very interesting.

I like all of the par 5's. and a good number of the par 4's and par 3's.

# 1 is a good starting hole followed up by the stretch that follows.

Perhaps the golf course is hemmed at the boundaries and can't add some length which might help a number of short and intermediate holes, in light of today's high tech lengths.

It falls into the sporty fun to play category.
If only they'd get rid of that pagoda.

Bill - same club, different site (Tillie). Alison designed the current course some time in the 40s, methinks.

Patrick: thanks, I agree that 1-3 is a fine opening strech over
attractive rolling land."Sporty" is good description.


This course was originally known as Lakeville and it was bulit in the mid 1920s.
