Arbroath GC
Hasn't been golfing weather here lately but did manage to get a trip to Arbroath on Wed. .
Arbroath is known as our wet weather course , no matter how much rain gets chucked on it , there never seems to be as much as a puddle .
The course was re-designed by James Braid and I wouldn't mind betting its pretty much as he left it .
It plays a little short and is situated in a narrow piece of linksland with the railway line hard against a lot of the holes on the back nine .
The par threes are particularly good .
The greens are interesting and the bunkering good , but it does seem to lack a challenge off the tee on a lot of holes . There is three separate burns running through the course yet only once does one of them really come into play , at a par 3 .
Unfortunately not much photos were taken due to the weather , but this might give a taste of golf at Arbroath.

The double green for the 2nd and 15th holes.
From behind the green of the par 3 4th . Tee is 166 yards up towards the fence on the left.
The green of the par 4 5th .
From behind the green of the par 3 7th . Tee is 159 yards up left beside the fence. Shot is semi-blind due that big bunker right in front of where the pin is situated . Tough to hold this small punchbowl green .
The 8th tee . If you have a thing about trains then avoid Arbroath ! .
The 12th is a short par 4 of around 300 yards . The tee is back towards where the trees are in the photo . Quite a simple hole , play a little left leaving a straight forward pitch onto the green . Problem is , go to the right leaves a tough shot over two big bunkers to a green running away from you . Bunker also situated for anyone going long on the left side also .
Greenside bunker on the 12th
The 13th green of the par 4 13th . Photo doesnt do the green justice .
The par three 16th . The tee is 182 yards right of the photo . Again semi-blind from the tee and a hard green to hold .
