Mike,

I picture you — standing up against the wall of your garage — Mrs. Hendren raising a 7-iron above her hear asking, "Who is this Forrest character?"

Not, however, because she is upset with my post, but rather because she wants to send me a box of See's Candies. The ones without the odd combinations of cherries and hard-to-pronounce nut blends. I imagine her doing this via the internet, perhaps clicking on the "SEND VIA FED-EX FOR JUST $2.00 MORE — WHY NOT SHOW THEM YOU REALLY APPRECIATE THEIR KINDNESS"

You see, Mike, I am saving your marriage — and making room for that ATV you have been wishing for.

Forrest,

You are digging a bigger hole, stereotyping me with that ATV comment and my wife with that bon-bon eating attitude toward spouses so prevalent among middle aged men.    Why don't you just focus on the 7th tee at Foulpointe forward.

FWIW, if my marriage ever gets to the point that its salvation depends on anything or anyone having to do with GCA, I am toast.

OK, it's time for those of you who have not sone so to consider how lucky we all are that Ran maintains this site...send a few bucks and get a GCA poster. They are neat. Mine is out to be framed and I will take pride in hanging it near my desk.

Greetings all-This is probably noted elsewhere in this thread, but I thought this would be a good time to "break the seal" and inquire how I may get a poster.

Having spent a few years in Nashville, where Hatch's Print Shop is located (right near Gruhn guitars from that Visa commercial a few years back "Because at Gruhn, they'll let you play a 1956 Les Paul, but they won't let you pay with American Express), I am a big fan if their work and have a few items in my apartment.

Anyway, any details would be much appreciated..

Dave,

Tommy Nacarrato posted the original — I've e-mailed him and asked that he somehow re-post it! If you e-mail me I can forward a copy to your e-mail.

Mike still has several dozen of these. Please contact him so he can sell off some posters and return some $$$ to Ran to help keep GCA up and running.

I should mention that Mike has a JPG and can send this to you so you can see what they look like. Perhaps he can post it where the original images used to be...is disappeared, as do many GCA images over time.

Our poster is often commented on by visitors. I expect to move it to our new offices where it will greet all who enter.

This is a neat way to say thanks to Ran — why not order six while you up and rummaging through your money? Act now, operators swinging by.

There it is! Thanks.

What is nice about these is that they are not large...framable within a budget. Hatch Showprint did a great job. The type is letterpressed using old wooden type. It is realy a period piece that looks like a minimalist course, complete with rough edges and imperfections. No crispness. No fancy aesthetics.

It is as if Doak or Coore were given a graphic design license for a few hours.

Buy one today. Don't tell your spouse.

Buy two. Still don't tell your spouse.

Buy three and Hendren will autograph one at no-charge.

I have been told there remain several posters in Mike's garage. Remember, proceeds go to GCA (Ran uses the proceeds to help defer the cost of the site.)

Again...

The poster was created by Hatch Showprint of Nashville, Tennessee. Hatch Showprint is best known for their music/concert posters for Elvis Presley and a host of other music greats. (Check them out at http://www.hatchshowprint.com/

The poster is 14-inches wide x 22-inches in height, a perfect size for framing. Hatch is reknown for their wood letterpress type — a historic throwback to the early 1900s. The design is 1920-30s in feel...how appropriate!

Mike Hendren and I have coordinated this special, limited edition press run of 150 posters. When they sell out...well, tough. We're suggesting $40, or $50 if you can manage it. This covers the poster, a sturdy mailing tube and shipping. All proceeds go to GCA.com.

Please e-mail Mike for specifics — we hope you all will consider this a great way to support Ran and the wonderful opportunity he provides for us all. Mike's e-mail is below:
