And Pine Valley's logo looks like something you would see on a golf cap you buy at Sears.

And a pine tree doesn't really have anything to do with golf. I think it's a great logo.

Onsce again with even more stupidity, Tommy, is that the Friar's Head logo that you posted? It wasn't labeled as such & I'd rather not make the assumption. I'm too much of an ass as it is!

The name Friar's Head comes from the large sand dune, shaped like a Friar's Head, at the top of the bluff on the north end of the property. It is said that mariners in days gone by would use this landmark as a nautical reference point, pre GPS.

Thanks for posting the image I love the idea that you have to think about it - why the two flags? I would eventually have had to ask someone, really cool answer.

I dislike the graphics of every club I've ever been too and despite wanting to I've never been abale to get the wallet out because I know I'd never wear them - they are all so ugly.  When Woosnam called to see if I would be available for a wild card pick next September I told him "Ian I wouldn't be seen dead in any clothing with the Ryder Cup logo on it, even by Golf's standards that is really hideous."

A couple of years ago a friend took off his jumper on the course as I was standing next to him. At the bottom of the left arm of this polo shirt I cought a glimpse of a small graphic with the Claret Jug and the words "The Open" below it.  For the first time in my life I was aware of my eyes turning green. Alarmed by this he stepped back and revealed that over the heart was a bigger logo and lots of Words "The Open Championship, Royal St George's,Sandwich, 2003."  I was cured in an instant.


The only logo discrete and stylish enought to make me wonder if I would wear it is the funky SH of Sand Hills.  So cool you could wear it on the street and in one in ten thousand passers by you would recognise, either a smile, or their eyes turning bright emerald.

Tony - I wore such a shirt in my monthly tournament group and you got it right - there was but one recognition, and his eyes did burn emerald.  He's a lurker here and I damn well hope he reads this.

 

Sand Hills is a GREAT logo.  We've discussed this many many times but put me down with the simpler is better, harder to figure out is better crowd.  Thus I kinda dig Friar's Head also.  Now being the proud owner of a hat from there thanks to the incredible thoughtfulness of a GCA chap, I shall wear that soon and stump the masses also.

Tony - that's kinda how I feel about the FH hat also.  It's just so damn cool though I want to wear it just to see if ANYONE recognizes it, either the course or the nautical flags.  I'm betting I get a recognition of the latter before the former.  I don't tend to hang out locally with the types who frequent FH!

Tom - I'm guessing this isn't the first time this has been suggested but the one I want is a white polo shirt in heavy cotton with a classic typeface - navy blue - low on the left sleeve

Oh man... that will be THE in shirt to have... we ought to get George Pazin (shirt-maker, frequent poster) to make them just for the hell of it.  Come to think of it, I believe he offered to do just this awhile back, proceeds going to Ran.  That George is a good egg.

No it isn't. It's a private website that requires an entry password.

What's behind the passworded gate is a lot of really special images of the course; the clubhouse that's under construction as well as other member information.

The only reason why there is an area for non-members is so that they can get the pertinent information regarding getting there as well as club policies.

I saw someone earlier today with a hat on from Yellowstone Club and that is definately a top 10 logo.
