Dick,

It will be great to see you, I'm glad your coming. I was hoping to see you at the Thompson archives dedication.

I can get there earlier, if that helps you and Wayne.

Ian,

I remember Geoff Shackelford mentioning something about the Thompson archive being opened at Guelph University. How comprehensive is the material?

May I suggest a 7 pm meeting time, that way those who want to stay later can, while those who must be off to other locations that evening can make their way there as well.... our location is near major highways and I can provide directions.

Not very. I have already passed on all the clubs to them that have plans or notes, but it will take someone's effort to collect them.

There are a few interesting items in the collection, such as his fieldbook from Sunningdale and the original book for Jasper Park, but there is lots out there to collect.

Ian, Robert et al:
I will bring a copy of a booklet that Stanley Thompson and Company produced entitled "About Golf Courses"
their construction and up-keep.
Geoff Cornish was in possession of the only known copy and he donated it along with enough money for restoration and to produce copies.

See you on the 2nd.

Hey guys,

Any room for two outsiders from Montreal?  Jeremy Glenn and I are thinking of joining you guys for the night.  Any cheap hotels to suggest around that area?

Ian,

Do you think it could still be possible to walk Eagles Nest in the afternoon if we get there soon enough, or are they closed for the winter?

Thanks for the info.

I believe there is a Days Inn that is almost next door to the bar - this used to service the Greenwood race track that was across the street until about 10 years ago.

Yannick,

Should be fine, yesterday's snow melted today. I will also confirm with the golf superintendent.

I hope you guys come down, please let me know if you are.

I think it is quite likely we will have 14-20 people, depending on whether everyone shows up. Should be great fun and our biggest event yet. Only Mr. Cowan-Dewar will not be with us so far from the Toronto crew, and if a couple of our Montreal friends come, and then the likes of the esteemed Mr. Gall, this is shaping up to be quite an outing. Mr. Andrew has indeed agreed to regale us with a poem or song, or maybe a poem and a song, about the delicate art of construction of holding ponds in restoration. I am prepared to take notes and video tape the event for posterity.
If well lubricated, Mr. Mingay has also been known to break into songs about bunker construction on the Edmonton plains. It is a moving sight to behold.

Look forward to seeing you again, Ian.  It's been what?  10 years?

Jeremy,

I don't think it has been that long, has it, but I still remember your hole by hole plans for Elm Ridge. :)

I look forward to catching up and meeting Yannick too.

Jeff,

Just because your wife was mad at you, don't blame me. I garanteed you could not be the worst dancer on the floor, and you still played the wallflower. ;D

Robert,

Since you can't write  ;) notes would seem to be appropriate.

......One thing that is a given is the lubrication of Mingay.

Ben,

Cancel your plans man!
