OT -WWTD on Sunday if
« on: September 13, 2007, 03:16:31 PM »
he is trailing Phil by two, with Steve Stricker in 3rd one more stroke behind and he has a critical shot with cnsequences such as a water hazard.

The point structure allows Tiger to win the FedEx by finishing second, even if Phil Wins the tournament. But a mistake could vault Steve into the championship by him finishing second.

In any normal event there is no question that Tiger would go for the shot and the tournament win. Now he has to strategize and choose which victory he wants to achieve.

What hole is he on?

... I don't think Tiger is afraid of a water hazard.

Tiger doesn't give a damn about deferred money or some other mythical title.  Tournament wins drive him.  There is zero doubt in my mind he plays to win the tournament.

Same goes for Mickelson.

All others play to win the FedEx Cup.

So sayeth me, knower of nothing.

Mike,
Somewhere in the last three or four holes, specifically on a shot swing hole.
Huck,
I agree, Tiger would take the chance. Now change the scenario and switch the order to Phil, Steve, Tiger. Are you saying that outside of Phil and Tiger, most players wold look at the Fed Ex rather than the CocaCola. Ater all, a victory is a victory.

Peter - yes, I do think that everyone playing today outside of Tiger and Phil values the FedEx more than the CocaCola.

But I could be very wrong.

What's sad is that the only real differences between me and that Friar are the hairstyles and menu choices.
