OK, this might mean nothing except to the Bay Area boys, but I shall nominate:

#8 at Summitpointe GC, Milpitas, CA

Dog leg left around and up a mountainside such that only the hardest of hooks have any prayer holding the fairway.  This causes hard-hat requirements for the golfers on 9, who get bombarded by the inevitable shots coming their way (9 doglegs along side 8 in reverse direction).

I hated this hole the first time I played it, 25 years ago.  I have come to only grow in my hatred since.

So, please provide the TNT and we can make something of this hole.  Only thing is the homeowners on the hillside will not be pleased.

Plays similar to 16 at CPC
Configured similar to 16 at CPC
Trouble/Hazards is similar to 16 at CPC
Often Windy as hell like 16 at CPC....

But cause it ain't like 16 at CPC due to the scenery, as Pat Mucci will persuade/beat in you....then it must be blown up

Maybe the 18th at Yale because I've ended up in my pocket 4 of the 5 times I've played it.  It's definitely a weird hole although it has its defenders.

The 6th and 7th at Shorecliffs. (the whole damn course for that matter with the exception of 13)

And on top of that, before he blows up the hole, Pat will tell us who have played it how much more about it he knows from looking at an aerial and a few photos... all the while never allowing such from anyone else.

I haven't played the 18th at Yale often enough to tell what club to use off the tee and what line to take.  So I've hit some decent drives that have run through the fairway, from where I've made a mess of the hole.  The last time I hit a three wood and that was too much club.  I wish they would use the back, elevated tee but it hasn't been in play when I've been there.  This would improve the visuals on the drive.

I've only played it once and it was several years ago.  I sure seem to remember playing from an elevated back tee though... I also remember the tee shot working just fine - it was after that that the hole got "interesting."

One of my own -- probably the 18th at High Pointe, although it would require special dispensation from the Michigan DNR to improve it significantly.

Off a great course -- I've already had the pleasure of dismantling the 13th at San Francisco Golf Club and restoring the original hole.  Next up is the 17th at Pasatiempo.

Just hassling you Tom! Love ya, mean it. But I do think your completely if not entirely wrong about Yale. It's just a quirky hole that has probably evolved in a direction that makes many uncomfortable. Me, it's quirky and fun and strategic.

Fred Couples could use a patented 3 wood up that hill and watch it roll back to him time and time again. Simply a horrible golf hole.

If ever there was a more over-admired, over-exagerrated, over-inflated, over-glamorized golf hole, it's Shadow Creek #17. Reminds me of a cheap $20.oo Vegas whore dressed in drag.

In tournaments they need a spotter just so the hole can be completed.  In the 4-day open there are regularly 3 groups on the hole, one playing and two waiting on the tee.
A bad blemish on an otherwise fun course.
