Where would you spend 30 days?

The thread about the 30-day Pinehurst sabbatical got me thinking.

Thirty days is much different than a week or weekend. So, if all of these places offered similar "sabbatical" packages, which destination would you prefer?

Pinehurst (8 courses at the resort)
Bandon Dunes (3 courses)
Pebble Beach (with Spyglass, Spanish Bay, and Del Monte)
Blackwolf Run/Whistling Straits
Kapalua (3 courses)

Somewhere else?

Make it a realistic consideration; your rounds at Pebble might be slow, Bandon might be cold/rainy, etc. Which would you choose?

How 'bout St. Andrews. You'd really get to know the place and ther are multiple courses which you could play. Maybe just my determination to get there talking, but that would be up there.

Is there a hotel/resort near St. Andrews (Old Course Hotel?) that can provide an all-inclusive package deal?

I'm asking specifically about all-inclusive packages at one resort - not simply the best golf vacation you can put together for 30 days.

If you were willing to sign up to stay 30 days at the Old Course Hotel, Russacks, or the Marine in North Berwick for that matter, I would bet they would be happy to procure your tee times and provide meals for one price. All of those hotels have week long packages available.

Bandon,  when the weather is sloppy the surf may be descent.30 days in a yurt ?

I gotta go with Bandon as well.  I'm thinking that in this dream world where one can devote 30 days to golf, one has no financial issues, so no offense but one ought not to stay in a yurt.  The resort proper is quite nice.   ;D  Add to the three courses the par three course + Sheep Ranch and one could keep quite satisfied for 30 days.. Heck wait a year or two and you'll have Old Macdonald also.  In any case I'd take this over Pebble mainly due to crowds.  Eliminate crowds and to me Pebble wins.

If St. Andrews meets Matt's definition, it beats both.

Cabo del Sol would keep me occupied as well... man does not live by golf alone and Cabo likely beats all for non-golf considerations.

Certainly true for a young man... definitely not true for an old-timer like me.  I doubt I'd get into the town of Cabo San Lucas once.  What I meant by non-golf activities was lying by pool, deep sea fishing, damn good food, desert ATVs, etc.  The partying aspect is a thing of the past.

I'm not sure, but it would be ONE place, and once I hung my hat, I wouldn't be going anywhere.

It would have ONE 18 hole course; one congenial pub/restaurant; one place to get breakfast, or a decent cup of coffee; one library or used bookstore; and one spot by a river to watch the sun go down.  

I'd get to know that one course really, really well, and get to know a couple of the locals too, and with everything close by and no choices to make I'd get into a lovely and quiet routine, finishing the day at the same place by the river everyday, maybe with the same one golf book that I'd read very carefully.

This is easy for me.  I would go to Devon or Cornwall.  I spent a week there last year and could have spent a month very easily.  I love the people, the uncrowded golf (St. Enodoc, RND, Burnham and Berrow, Saunton and excursions into Southern Wales and Surrey).

While I appreciate everyone's answers, I intended this as a different question than "How would you organize a dream 30-day golf trip?"

The question is, at which all-inclusive golf resort/destination would you spend 30 days?

Again this is in reference to the Pinehurst 30-day sabatical. Please provide two answers if you like! But try to keep one answer germane to resorts that could, in theory, organize an all-inclusive package like Pinehurst.

First I thought Kohler, then that was trumped by Bandon, but now I'm thinking it would be hard to top St Andrews.  You could just do the Old Course lottery every day...if you didn't get it that day, just go play somewhere else and try again the next day.  No pressure w/ 30 days to spare.

The better question is how many holes could you play in 30 days?  I'd probably start out alternating 36/54 hole days, but I'm not sure I could keep it up for 4+ weeks.

I've got it narrowed down to two places and they both start of with Ban. One is majestic golf and the other is majestic with golf.

I have great difficulty deciding between St Andrews and Dornoch.

St. Andrews has more social, cultural and dining opportunities apart from the golf.

Dornoch has such beauty and seclusion I believe it would be more peaceful, relaxing and rejuvenating.

Matt,

In trying to keep this on topic, it would be a matter of deciding on whether you go to a multi-course resort or just one great course that you want to get to know real well.

As far as an all inclusive golf resort, I can't go past Bandon either, & I am still yet to play the Trails course.

Here in Australia, we don't have any multi-course resort that would be worth spending 30 days at. Although, if you did spend 30 days in Melbourne, it's pretty easy to get around to each course you want to play.
