Merion East - a new record?
« on: December 20, 2006, 01:58:11 PM »
Just watching the ridiculous progression of the Merion East thread top the 1,000 post mark made me wonder if this topic sets any sort of standard for the most replies in GCA history?

I wasnt going to take the risk of bringing back GCA's most popular thread...

Here are some stats for your question:

I'm telling you, Tom Paul would have his book done if he put as much time into that as he did the Merion East thread.  He could have written two books  ;D

It's getting close, should set a new standard in a day or so. The old record is 1095 in Michelle & Jack and a loosely woven thread

George,

Where did you go on the site to get to the stats?

Thanks,

I don't for the life of me understand the premise of that whole discussion.

OK - CB and friend advised Wilson on "something or other related to golf that has never quite been determined".  That fact has been acknowledged in several places including the Merion 1976 publication.  What more do they want? Obviously Macdonald does not deserve design credit or he would have let the world know while he was alive.

Pretty sure the infamous "The Bridge" thread was longer than the Merion East thread before it got too cantankerous and was removed.

The Michelle Wie thread is dead meat---the Merion #10 thread has her in its sights and will roll right over here by tomorrow.

As much of a waste of time as the Merion #10 thread is due to its volume it's nowhere near as valueless as the Wie thread insofar as golf architecture is concerned.

What do you think the possibility is Michelle Wie has checked out the Michelle Wie thread?

What do you think the possibility is that a good slice of Merion and numerous significant others have checked out the Merion #10 thread, and in horror?  ;)
