Am I the only one that has noticed that a disproptionately high % of GCA participants golf lefthanded?  Is there a correlation between this anomaly and our predisposition towards golf holes which are bassackwards (e.g. Redans) and writers who can't think straight (like Max Behr)?

I think given the fact that most golf courses are designed for right handers it is natural that the south paw would come by the study of why that is quite naturally.  I always enjoy how awkward many holes must be from the other side.

Eureka...You have solved the mystery of the love of the redan by the intellectual elite.  They are left handed and it is the one shot in golf that fits their eye.

Actually, John...you're wrong again, which I see is becoming a habit.

I'm sure Geoffrey Childs will concur with me that we'd much rather play a reverse redan than a redan.   I have a left to right ballflight that doesn't play nicely with the redan at all, and usually the best I can hope for is to miss just right.  

Redans suck for a lefty, as I imagine they do for a righthanded slicer.

Everyone has a preferred, predominate ball flight.  I can fade the ball, but find that I generally give up too much distance, especially in windy conditions as I also tend to hit the ball high.  

You don't need to be able to drive the ball 375 yards like John Daly to understand that he can do it.

First- This intelectual elitist nonsense you are pushing on some while claiming to be a simple hillbilly is among the most humorous things you have tried to push on this board.  We all know know that act by now and it is quite clear that they breed smart folk in the country and the city.  You are brighter then almost all of the sushi eaters in New York City.

As to the redan - Hate that shot.  It doesn't fit my eye at all.  If I could feel comfortable working the ball at will with a nice controlled trajectory to account for the wind then I would not be here right now curing cancer.

Mike-- Do not run afoul of the Good Herr Doctor... He pretty much owes me for his golfing goodness this year.. We are talking about a stingy curmudgeon who I had to DRAG, yes DRAG to Lawsonia b/c he poor aching back was bothering him..Oh poor baby.. And HE LOVED IT.. He also at playing Chicago GC a second time b/c he wanted to spend the time with Shel Solow (understandable given how Shel is a mensch).. He's a good friend but he moaned oh, how he moaned about having to play a top 50 course.

It was actually Buda IV (where at least 4 of the 18 or so participants played left-handed) which inspired this hyopthesis.  My few holes with Sean (and FBD) on Saturday just reinforced it.
