American Classic Clubhouse Photos?

Hi guys

I'm wondering if anyone would have some photos of some American classic clubhouses that I can show to a client of ours. Ones that spring to mind are the Valley Club in Santa Barbara and Winged Foot; but I would really like as many different ones as possible. We're under pretty tight time lines so any advice here would be greatly appreciated.

I would be very interested to know when Shinnecock installed central heating in their clubhouse (apparently the first significant clubhouse in American golf).

If, in fact, they have done that yet.

You would likely know better than I, but I heard from a Shinny member three weeks ago that they have never installed heating or air conditioning. I know for a fact that Chicago GC doesn't have air conditioning anywhere. I like this resistance to change stance, even though it may be tough for members with temperature swings. The people it really must be tough for are the employees who are there all the time.

Many thanks for those photos Sébastien and RJ. It's exactly what I was looking for. On another note, I'll be heading to the US next week until the 10th of October. Planning to be in NY, Boston and California. I wouldn't mind a game or two if anyone's up for it.

I have only been there once but I couldn't remember the turret. I never got to play Holston but it looks to be a great course. It was under rennovation when I was there.

Merion Clubhouse: farmhouse and barn circa 1824

Pocantico Hills: While an estate course, this is the greatest clubhouse in America. It is known as the Playhouse and, just like the estate itself, nothing in America comes close.)

You need to get your hands on a rare book of Clifford Wendehack's clubhouses. The only one I have ever seen is in The Ralph Miller Collection in Los Angeles — Amateur Athletic Foundation. USGA's Library may have one, too.

Shinnecock Hills does not have heating or ac. The pro shop has heat but no ac.

Here is one of my favorites that I had the pleasure to see last year.
Designed by the Stanford White of Shinnecock fame. Palmetto Golf Club has done little to change this charming clubhouse, its like going back in time.
