Wellshire Golf Club, Denver, Colorado

$27, I'll tee off around 6:00 am and be home by 10:00 am.  I may grow tired of Wellshire, but I'm hooked for now--thanks Doug Wright.

Sunday on Cougar Point on Kiawah Island with the wife and kids.  (After 6pm, we have a nine-hole "Family Tee" program with tees set up in the fairways between 150 and 200 yards out.  While I won't be charged, we let parents pay $45 each and the kids are free.  It's a big hit for the resort guests...)

shivas and Rich, you both ought to be ashamed of yourselves.  You know where you SHOULD be playing this weekend.  Man the way the SoCals stacked the lineups, we need all the low capper northerners we can get, even if you do suck (shivas).

Just kidding, of course.  Mostly.

BTW, "Senior Salver at Seaton Carew" - is that meant to be a tongue-twister or a golf event?  What's a "salver"?

TH

ps - Paul T, the same crap gets thrown at you also.  Daughter's graduation.. now I've heard it all.   ;)

I should have made you a deal Huck:  I come out for the KP5 during  my daughter's graduation IF you leave to  come to Chicago for a game at my course at the moment your wife goes into labor!

Saturday 9:30AM, Columbia CC, $10 dogfight
Sunday 9:30AM, Columbia CC, $10 dogfight

You'd think it would get old playing the same game twice a week but somehow it does not...

P.S. A "salver" is some sort of serving dish or another.

Brent - thanks - so it's the trophy for the tournament Rich is playing in.  I do love the way the Brits and Scots do things....

But you now MUST explain what's involved in the "dogfight".

And Paul, thanks.  It is a fair assumption that a fine time will be had by all, but especially by my opponents.

Huck,

I don't know where that name comes from. It seems to be a generic term for any game where everyone throws in a few bucks and then you play for a share of the pot. In our case they sort us into random 3- or 4-man teams and we either do net Stableford points or something similar with the winning teams for front, back and total splitting the pot.

Our guys typically have honest-ish handicaps so basically you put in your ten bucks and have a pretty random chance of winning something like $20-$60 depending on whether you and your partners happen to have a good day all at once. I'm sure you've played lots of those games, don't know why around here it's called "dogfight"...
