Pete has two sons. They have divided the country at the Mississippi. Perhaps the Denver based one did the course in NM.

I've played three P.B. Dye courses; Moorlands at M.B., the original course at St. James Plantation at Southport, NC, and Atlanta National here in Roswell, GA.  They were all fun to play once or twice, and there are some very good holes on all, especially Atlanta Natl.  I would not particularly like to play any of them on a regular basis, I don't think, and I have no interest in ever setting foot on the Moorlands course again with two vastly superior courses on the same property.  Too many holes are much too severe, with a strong goofy (as opposed to quirk) element.

You're probably referring to Ken Dye as the unrelated GCA.  Cobblestone, a muni that he did in Acworth, GA, is excellent; consistently ranked among the best courses in GA and rightfully so.  There have been some strong opinions here about some other work he has done, but Cobblestone is outstanding.

 Iron Valley , by PB according to golfcourse.com, is fun but awkward at times. He uses several quarry digouts well, but then has a very awkward par five or two with blind downhill teeshots to narrow landing areas and severe penalties.

   #10 has a neat green that ramps up like #1 at PVGC, so that recovery is difficult. It is challenging and fun.There is an island par three which is totally exposed to the wind. Is it fun? We keep hitting balls until we get on.; so yes. But he has one of those uphill par threes were you are just hitting and hoping.

    While I have found Pete 's hazards strategic (at Bulle Rock) sometimes PB's strike me as "That's a neat hole in the ground with a rock side to it; let's put a golf hole there."

    So, I end up thinking this had potential to be something special but fell short.

Cobblestone was a lot of fun to play. I thought they renamed it The Bolders for some reason.

It was the other way around; it was originally The Boulders, and the course out west made them change, with Cobblestone becoming the new name.  Excellent course, especially for a muni, by any name.

I've played Atlanta National and I've known a few guys that were members there and dropped out because they said it got old having your butt kicked everytime you play. I've also played Cherokee National which used to be The Guantlet in the Upstate of South Carolina. This course has about 10 really really good holes then the other ones are either way to severe or just plain goofy.
