Lehigh CC, just add water
« on: September 24, 2004, 07:41:31 PM »
-Photos no longer available.....-

Seriously, probably the worst in 50 years.  The water was 9-10 feet above usual levels.  The course will be fine and soon, too. We give thanks to our great staff led by turfguy John Chassard

Now that was an artistic paradox.

Laughing while seeing these horrible images. Very Kubrickesque.

The cape hole floored me. Is that the new John Cleese prescribe width?

This should convince any member of the club that those old bunkers on #11 don't need sand. I could've sworn I saw your 11th green heading down the river as I crossed over the Walt Whitman about ten days ago. Guess not.

I had the honor of visiting Leigh for the first time just a short three weeks ago...shocking! The club was in the process of a river bank restoration and slope project — I take it that this is on hold. Perhaps the work was done by nature, at no-charge!

My sincerest wishes for a speedy recovery.

Redanman:

I figured you fancied canals but that's ridiculous ;)

Kudos upon kudos to LCC's ground crew and certainly slightly balder Super.  That type of water could literally wash away less stought courses.

BTW, my better half and I still need to make it out your way :)

Just remember that there is nothing wrong with lift clean and place :P

Hope it bounces back quick.

Let me know if you need any mud or old trees for fill - I had plenty in the back of my shop:

ODE TO THE STAFF

Eight days later.

The ball was bouncing like on concrete on the upper holes. Effin' amazing.  I guess Flynn gets some credit.....

#4 Tee

Remember the bent bridge?

Front of #11 green.  TEP was wrong, yet again.

Back up the fourth hole

Hole #7

Hole #13, no longer 100% under water

Hole #7

The other bridge (#7)

Was this interesting or boring?
Feedback, please.

Interesting!

And informative. For one is left with a deeper understanding of why you dislike trees, so much.

Those first set of pics were downright sad to see, BV...glad to see she has recovered so quickly and so nicely...would have been a cryin' shame!

One thing that is interesting to me is that the 7th green doesn't look all that pitched to me in the photos. My recollection is that it is sloped pretty severely back to front.

It's always amazing to me how much power Mother Nature has, as well as how quickly she bounces back.

The good news is that most of them are not really in play unless you are truly unacceptably off-line.

Dr. Bill, I find the notion of acceptability, in reference to line, to be truely diictatorial.

Bill;

It's amazing what's been done by the staff in restoring those holes in that amount of time.  I would think that type of damage would be much longer lasting.

Great to see!!!

btw...I'm in Sioux Falls this week...played Sutton Bay yesterday.  Quite the place.
