Had a chance to play Royal County Down two weeks ago and thought I'd share some photos. Many more eloquent than I am have weighed in about the course so I won't waste your time with many of my thoughts.

It was a windy day, +30mph gusts but still didn't find the course as difficult from the tee as I had imagined and that's not necessarily my strong suit -- plenty tough though, especially the bunkers.

Interesting sidebar. The starter who's been playing there since 1965 was putting his eclectic scorecard together and had a 49, said he'd shot 74 and 76 there as a 13 and doesn't carry any woods.

#1 from starter's hut

#2 from fairway -- one gnarly bunker in front of that green.

View of #3 spoiled

#4 looking back towards tee

#6 One of many blind tee shots (look for the white stone)

#6 from fway

Short #7 -- I thought the course had some excellent one shotters

#8 from fairway (I think)

#9 Tee

# 9 from top of dune -- I had always imagined this was where the tee box was!

My unfortunate playing partner on top of the dune at #9 green

#9 looking back from behind the green

The dreaded red X.  I don't think Ofoto hosts pictures for public viewing the way some other sites do.

Sorry - the photos showed up for me so I thought it was working. Is mystic photo one that works?

Buck,

They are showing up fine for me.  Thanks.

Intereting internet test here... the photos seem to work for European viewers (Brian P.) but not for US (Brian G, Kevin R, now me) - we get the dreaded red x box.

Buck, if you care to download those to mysticcolorlab, then I sure would love to see them!  I consider RCD among the world's great courses, or at least one of my favorities for sure.  I'd really like to see what the new 16th looks like if you have a pic of that...

I'll try to set up a mystic account when I've got some time. I have one pretty good shot from the current 16 tee that shows both the current and new holes. Unfortunately the one I took from the new tees didn't turn out. The new hole looks good but I would rather they replaced 17 than 16.

I'm starting to get some red x's now as well.

Right click on the red cross.

Left Click on Properties.

Left click and drag on the URL (http://) to highlight it.

Right click on this highlighted URL.  Left click Copy.

Right click on URL Address above, left click and Paste the photo URL.

Should reveal the pic.  It did for me.

Paul - that does work, thanks.

And here's the first pic.

Someone just needs to do this for each one, putting the img and /img tags (with brackets around them) around each URL.

They will work for you, but ofoto doesn't allow direct links.  So you have to manually post them the way paul described.  Going through them and manually doing the "url" tags will not change that for anyone who hasn't manually done the copy and paste.

Kevin - correct - in my brief way, that's what I meant.  But it seems someone must have done that - they show up now for me here!

Once you look at them the way Paul described, they will always appear for you but for no one else until they do the copy and paste trick.

Paul Turner,

I have just phoned the Nobel people in Norway and nominated you for the "Helping Luddites get Unscrewed Posting Photograph Prize."

Thanks,

Unless you're talking "Peace" you've got the wrong country code.  Try Sweden.

PS--I still can't get the pics, even with Paul's ministrations.

Rich,

I seem to get this wrong from time to time. I know Alfred Nobel was Swedish so I guess it's Sweden for everything other than 'Peace' or t'other way round? How on earth did the Norwegians get in the act?

I thought no one would bother!  Yes, it won't work for you until the picture is in your cache (temp memory).

I think www.photobucket.com is the best image hosting site.

It's free. No restrictions on hot linking, no apparent total memory limit and no resizing of the image unless it's above 250K.
