Canyata purchased by Escalante

Did a little searching and there's only a few here that seem to have played the course as it was uber-private.

At the end of 2024, Escalante Golf, the Fort Worth, TX-based boutique owner & operator of a portfolio of private golf clubs and resorts across the country, became the new owner of Canyata. The company has a proven track record of delivering remarkable golf and hospitality experiences at the clubs it stewards, and is excited to bring that same remarkability at Canyata. The company invites golfers to experience Canyata via Icon Golf, a membership offering access to private clubs, luxury travel opportunities and exclusive and unforgettable experiences.

Just came here to post about this same thing.

I'm a member at an Escalante Club and they sent a cryptic email last week saying there would be an opportunity to join a "Golf Digest Top 100 Club" coming in the next week.

I thought for sure it would be related to Wilderness Club, which they purchased last year, and has technically been a GD Top 100 Public.

So was very surprised to see the Canyata announcement. Got a very fancy piece of direct mail with an invite to join Icon Golf, where Canyata will now be their home course.

Very curious to learn more about their plans to build out the property and make it more of a stay-and-play destination.

Have generally heard good things about it from the people I know who have played, but not sure how much of that is the course and how much of it is just the chance to play at a spot so few people have been able to see.

I only know one person that I know has played it, and he said it was good, but not top 100 worthy, and that a lot of the fun was that you had the whole course to yourself.  I figured it was Black Diamond or Wilderness when I got the email, given that the only other course in their portfolio that could be considered top 100 was the course at which I'm already a member.

Bill is correct. It’s good but not a top hundred course
199 played, only Augusta National left to play!
