Fraserburgh is the clear stand-out of those three. Inverallochy has loads of charm if you have an extra couple of hours, and a not too breezy day. There are some good holes on the way in at Peterhead, and some nice variety between more pastoral land and links. All worth playing, but I'd go with the above order.

Thanks Clyde. Hope to see some of your handiwork on the drive from Cruden Bay to Brora.  ;D

Ben

I note I hadn't played either Peterhead or Rosehearty when I posted on this thread previously. Having now played both I'd agree that Fraserburgh is a significantly better course than Peterhead. Peterhead lost a few holes to erosion a number of years back and unfortunately the rerouted course feels a bit disjointed. There are some good holes though.

I'm not sure which I'd recommend first between Inverallochy and Rosehearty as it's kind of apples to oranges. Rosehearty being nine holes with the seaward holes being quite linksy while Inverallochy is as I described previously - "Inverallochy is fairly flat and featureless in part but with some nicely subtle greens where as the holes furthest away from the clubhouse are more interesting topographically and in a golf sense. Some really good par 3's from memory."

I think the choice between the two might come down to how much time you have and how much golf you want to play.

I believe both Peterhead and Fraserburgh have 9-hole courses in addition to their main 18-hole courses. Anyone know if they’re worth playing?
At Cruden Bay there is also the wonderful 9-hole St Olaf course which is definitely worth playing.
