Greens Construction in Pinehurst
« on: October 18, 2024, 03:06:26 PM »
With all of the renovations, restorations, and new construction that has happened in Pinehurst/Southern Pines, how are these greens being built?  To USGA spec?  Adding drainage?  I don’t remember ever seeing anything at Mid Pines or Southern Pines that looked like they were doing USGA greens. But there have been plenty of other courses like #2, #4, #10, Pine Needles, etc.  Obviously, the area has a great advantage being in the sandhills for drainage, but I wasn’t sure what is preferred with the heat and Bermuda greens.  Any thoughts?

Great question.  I would love to hear the answer.  Also bunker construction:  are they using native sand and what construction techniques are being used with the native sand?
