It needs to be noted that Anthony Pioppi contributes an informative chapter on Seth Raynor.

Sprinkled throughout the book is also terrific commentary by Tom Doak (consulting architect to CGC) on specific holes and other things architectural.

Wow oh wow. I just got home from a week in SC. The book came on Tuesday. My wife called and said, "This is a Tommy book." Holy cow, I can't imagine all the work that went into creating this tome. I will spend days savoring its delights. Τhank you to everyone involed in its publishing.

I played Chicago Golf Club yesterday with co-author John Moran and Jeff Rude (retired from Golfweek) and another friend yesterday. An absolutely unforgettable round of golf on one of the greatest golf courses in America.

Coming back to this thread, as I just finished reading this book (very slowly) all summer..  I'll second what everyone else has said, his is one the best golf books I have ever read.  From the history of the course's evolution to the hole by hole descriptions with pictures, it's a truly exceptional piece of work.

I found it interesting that the previous club's history was never footnoted or even acknowledged.

And there have been two of them, a 75th anniversary softcover by Charles Bartlett in 1967 and the 100th anniversary hardcover by Ross Goodner in 1992.
