In the current infinity greens thread, I mentioned that the peek of #13 at Pacific Dunes from the third green builds tremendous anticipation of that hole. After seeing its gentle bend around the cliffs and the massive dunes to the right, the players waits more than two hours to play it (without getting another good look at it).
What other courses offer a peek at something to come, at some point in the round, that causes/allows the player to build excitement (and even suspense) during play?
The first time I played PD, we finished the third hole and were ready to walk straight to 13, but our caddy told us we were going the wrong way and that we'd have to wait to play it. Then he said "and the one you're about to see ain't too shabby, either."
(I know a clubhouse perched on a high spot can reveal all manner of information, but I'm really talking about utilizing a routing so the player gets a look at a great unplayed hole somewhere during the round.)
