Eye pleasing hole categories
« on: October 18, 2023, 05:51:47 PM »
I do not put a lot of stock in looks/aesthetics/beauty in assessing the quality/enjoyment of a course. However, it did occur to me that I have a natural affinity for the look of a sweeping dog leg left from a tee that enables me to see the sweep of the hole. It was looking at a photo of Swinley Forest 9 that prompted the thought. It is a favorite hole; it is strategic; but my view is heavily influenced by the look. The same for Mid Pines 12 which may have my favorite bunker anywhere.

If the eye pleasing look is because of how the hole lays on the land that’s not just aesthetic. Seeing things not in play would be aesthetic.

Played both courses but can’t recall those specific holes. But I like both courses for their looks and playability.
