Shelburne Farms Golf Links (Vermont)
« on: February 19, 2023, 03:45:01 PM »
My research to date indicates a "golf court" was laid out on Shelburne Farms (Vermont) by W.T. Davis in 1894 and enlarged to 18 holes by Willie Park, Jr. in 1895. It is listed in Harper's 1901 Guide. It was a private course owned by Dr. W. Seward Webb and his avid golfer wife and Vanderbilt heiress Lila Vanderbilt Webb.  The gofl course was reduced to the westermost and northern most 9 holes c. 1910 and the remaining holes were allowed to revert to pasture during WWII due to gasoline shortages. There are remants of tee boxes and putting greens. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.
