Flooding in NE Scotland - Carnoustie and Others

Just a quick note to say there's been some pretty significant flooding in NE Scotland over the past few days.

I was on a train from Edinburgh to Montrose yesterday afternoon and Carnoustie looked to be rough shape.  At least 9, 10, 17 and 18 appeared to be at least partly under water.  The Burnside appeared to take the worst of it, with most of the holes by the train line completely underwater.


The train goes past Ladybank, Monifieth, Panmure and Arboath as well; all those appeared to be okay.  I didn't manage to get any photos because it was dusk and we were moving pretty fast.


Hopefully the damage isn't severe but thought this was worth posting.

Seen worse, although Chippy Lawries place on Deeside will need drying oot.

Not nice to see this kind of occurrence.

The Councils and SEPA much prefer open areas of grass being flooded rather than homes and businesses. There will be a flood prevention plan in place which will concentrate on costs for damages to property. Mother Nature almost always wins! The Barry Burn overspills all the time - worse when heavy rainfall coincides with a high tide. They came up with that horrible stone lining for the burn banks to try to mitigate damage to the course. Looks awful, but seems to do the job.
