Square feet of space on par threes
« on: October 14, 2022, 01:27:16 PM »
My club has been getting more play lately. There are bunches of unhealed divots on some tees that play 160 yards or less. Most replace their divots or fill them with divot mix, but they take time to grow in. The architect built many tee boxes, but most are relatively small. What is a good rule of thumb for building tee box sizes?

A rule of thumb for sizing tee boxes on holes where irons are used from the tee is 200 square feet per 1,000 rounds of golf.  That of course doesn't take into consideration the micro-climate of the tee location and any issues that limit recovery (tree roots, shade etc.).
