Best Set of Bunkers in the US

After the recent talk of the style of bunkers at Bandon #3,(Mr. Keiser wanting bunkers like Royal Melbourne) I'm curious what courses you feel have the best set of bunkers. I'm not talking consistancy of sand and maintenance, but style...ie fitting to the golf course, uniform style throughout. The reason that this sould be limited to courses in the U.S. is because I think we'd run into a Royal Melborne v.s. The Met Club showdown. If at all possible, give the name of the course and maybe the designer, or if it's been updated lately.

Love the look and feel of the bunkers at Sand Hills and Friar's Head, haven't yet been to Oregon, but am planning an 05 trip. Hope the bunkers at Prairie Dunes can make it to this level, that is if Bill Coore and Dave Axland have their way.

Some of the best for natural look or old world artistic shapes I've seen recently would include;

Pacific Dunes(natural)
Friar's Head(natural)
French Creek(natural)
Stonewall2(Mackenzie artistic)
Hidden Creek(form of early heathland look)

I would put San Francisco GC (Tillinghast) on the short list of best-bunkered golf courses in the US. Certainly, they are the most distinctive feature of the course, especially the fairway bunkering. I have not seen SFGC since Tom Doak's work there, but I can't imagine their prominence has been diminshed in any way.

Wild Horse has some of the best I've seen.

Pebble Beach's aren't too bad, either. (of course theres no way I can justify the new bunkers without seeing them first  ::) )

Doak's new deep scares at Texas tech are pretty cool for only being a few months old.
