Mike,

Using Google Earth I measured from the back of the rear tee box to the front of the green.  Assuming pros hit their SW min 125 it seems like depending on wind direction most holes will be Drive and Pitch/Chip with the exception of holes like 5, 14, and 17.

1 - 351 yards
2 - 429 yards
3 - 369 yards
4 - 459 yards
5 - 520 yards
6 - 386 yards
7 - 356 yards
8 - N/A
9 - 331 yards
10 - 358 yards
11 - N/A
12 - 332 yards
13 - 430 yards
14 - 583 yards
15 - 428 yards
16 - 413 yards
17 - 471 yards
18 - 348 yards

I was just thinking, if Shotlink includes which club was used in the data, it would be very interesting to see the stats after The Open this year.  90+% of the shots may come from just 5 clubs: driver, PW, SW, LW, and the putter.

Yeah for sure Kalen. I would think different bounce wedges for bunker shots vs. hard green surrounds as well. When would one use a long iron except off the tee? Of course if the wind picks up that is the defense.

A photo from this morning:

It looked to me like spectator mounding, not an additional tee.

Tim do you have a google earth photo or anything to show where this tee actually is in relation to the course?  Thanks.

Jeff,

It's directly behind the current 7th tee (just to the right of the 6th green).

I have to say, looking at the photo again, I'm questioning myself. If you look in the middle right of the photo, you can see a bit of dirt that certainly looks flatter. I didn't even think to look there - I just saw the roped off section and thought the shaping made it look more like mounding. James, if you find out any more, I'd be curious!

It does look like mounding rather than a tee.  I’m up there again in a couple of weeks.  I’ll have another look.

I had that other look and it is just mounding.  Sorry!
