David,

I don't care if you're playing Phil and Rickie from the front tees and they are limited to three clubs, it takes massive juevos rancheros to cover yourself in blood and dive naked into a shark tank with those two - wearing only your wallet as bait.

Plus, you saved $200!

I'm in Riverside fairly often, we gotta have dinner and talk golf & film one of these days.

If you venture to Nutville, USA - I am on the DL until the next spinal chop at UCSF, but you're welcome at Olympic anytime.

Great stuff . . . . my treat.

Bruce,

You wanna write a $1,000 check to special needs housing?  Bring a foursome - I'll cover the green fees and match it.

Isn’t the obvious answer Old Tom Morris at Cruden Bay?

No, the obvious answer is Old and Young Tom Morris at Prestwick, 1860.

Hi Anthony. I have posted many threads in the past decade since you were last booted for filling the discussion group with a bunch of junk posts. You should check them out. Pat

Pat Craig,

You know what? The Treehouse is becoming a lot like the poisonous America people like you agitate for. Humorless and straight to the jugular, stabbing ruthlessly for bare bone.

Let's just be really clear, don't you ever come near me - and don't you ever disrespect my dear friend like this again - the "or else" we will discuss privately.

And Ran - since you'll doubtless read this: It is not like this schmuck is an erudite fountain of anything but half-assed and charcoal baked splinters of sophomoric thoughts. You may not like what I write, but this - like that retarded kangaroo whose name (Warren something?) escapes me - sets a bad precedent for a mini cancel-culture.

You wanna kick Anthony out? Make it both of us instead. Where is Johnny Thunders when we need him?

PS: Hey Pat, you can be the 4th stooge, I actually really like and respect Cirba - particularly as a golf history savant.

You? Not so much.

I once more or less did this to play with Phil and Rickie Fowler. Had to gamble it up with them for significant stakes back at the old club. By the time the first ball was in the air, I had at least that in total exposure.

Playing with Mickelson (he was 19th in the world at the time) and Rickie (he was 5th in the world at the time) on a super difficult course with rock-hard greens running 14 playing and off of bare fairway lies was ... an absolute blast. Phil was such a good dude the entire time. Treated us to lunch and stories after. I'll never forget that day.

If anyone's interested, long thread here: https://forums.golfwrx.com/topic/1240914-a-scratch-player-against-phil-mickelson-with-a-700-yard-advantage/

On the day, I think I lost $800. It was worth every penny.
I remember that thread Obee!  Also you played them again the next year as well.  Kudos as Bear Creek is a Bear!

Anthony,

Since I'm on the D.L., I'd gladly pay $1K to push the beer cart at NGLA with you, Shivas Schmidt, Normoyle and Sweeney. I'll double the buy-in to have Mucci, DeVries, The Emperor and Wigler.

The place is empty before 10am, we can play an 8-some.

Life is short and except for Tommy, I'm lucky to hang with these guys once a year anymore.

Joel can do the play-by-play commentary with Holly Sonders and we'll make it into a "self- indulgent documentary" and show it at one of those "irrelevant" art houses . . . . . .

That way, we won't have to endure any of the unwashed philistines at the table beside the kitchen door.

WTF is wrong with you...seriously...?..:

"People like you"
"don't you ever come near me"
"It is not like this schmuck is an erudite fountain of anything but half-assed and charcoal baked splinters of sophomoric thoughts. "

Can we please nominate the above post for the "Douchiest of 2022"...?..;-)
(Mine can also be nominated..please.)

The division against which you supposedly deride is instead on full proactive display flowing from your own pores.

Your MAGA-centric political views are tragically myopic in scope and woefully ignorant in practice. We can just picture you gleefully ringing your hands over your (Not Made in the USA) laptop, watching Tucker on a (NOT made in the USA) TV while wearing a (Also Not made in the USA) "Let's Go Brandon" Snuggee fashioned from the same materials as a (Not Made in the USA) "Sham-Wow...!!...and trying to pound out some pithy retorts when you are only really repurposing Fox News chyrons and Breitbart click bait.

First, come on man, get original. Your material is old and "cut and paste" repeatable.
Second, chill the F out on P-Craig. A nicer human you will not find.

The only person who I have ever seen lob actual threats on GCA is you, Gib. You may take your beefs to Mr. Craig, but I'll be right behind him with a smirk on my face that I will challenge you to remove...;-)...with your wit, of course...well, maybe...

Third, I doubt you may see this, but You make an absolutely rock-solid case here (in a previous bit of polit-O-vomit), with footnoted examples, for a "Medicaid for All" initiative to expand healthcare coverage in America so that your dear friends dont have to suffer so much.

Coming from such a far-right extremist who delves more into "cancel culture" cliches and barely surface-deep puffery than in society's realities, you make an excellent point. Too bad the irony is lost through your dogmatic and biased filter of partisanship. How sad.

You're a veritable "skill crane" of right wing drivel that attempts to mask itself with clever wordsmithing.

US politics succeeds when managed from the center, when compromised with both parties, when collaboratively legislated and when it solves the problems of its citizenry. But, please, go ahead and decry "Stop the Steal" - that's really fucking helpful being a world-class whiner and sore loser today.

Following Ronald’s decree for a softer hand, on a go-forward basis, I will with draw my occasional poignant comments as I can fall in that trap. In 2022, I wish to NOT do that.
But, your POS post just could not go unaddressed.

Mr. Gray succinctly slapped back at Mr. Craig in a brief but effective one-line barb to which I said to myself internally, "Well played, sir"... ;D

In hockey, you would have been given a 10 minute misconduct for being the "3rd man in"...;-)

Ian,
What I find amazing is how many emails and PM's I get, expressing disgust and concern at the level of sanctimonious righteousness being expelled from the corner table GCA thought police.

People who preach tolerance are often the first Moonwatchers to swing the bone.

Then again, it is also amazing how few are willing to come right out and tell people like you to go jump in a piss pond - not wishing to risk being branded and run out of here as so many OG's have - most of which left with significantly more knowledge on the subject at hand than you will ever possess.

"C'mon man?"

And quoting Joe Biden is not going to impress anybody, speaking of originality.

Wake me when you pen something actually worth reading.

P.S. Anybody who would snot off with nasty post like Pat Craig blew out his butt at Anthony is hardly a nice person.

You can pay a few hundred bucks, play one of the greatest courses in the world and walk away with lots of pictures, some merch and a few stories to bore your family and friends with but without really knowing much of value about the 18 holes you’ve just played or a lasting feeling of connection to it.

This website has actually connected me to a series of interactions that I’d have gladly paid $1,000 for — not the course, but the time with the company who made it so memorable.

A history lesson around Royal Melbourne with Matt Mollica, Royal Dornoch with Rihc!, Victoria GC in a misty first-tee time two-ball with Mike Clayton, the full Riviera experience with Michael Robin, Clyde Johnson showing how The Old Course should really be played, breakfast and a tour of Olympic’s downtown and golf clubhouses with David Tepper and the hospitality of Mayday, Policano, Dunne, Connaughton, Pearce and Chaplin — and so many others — on their home courses…

And will I ever treasure the memories of a round more than Wolf in October 2010 at MPCC with Huntley, Huckaby and Benham? I still have the three $1 bills Bob reluctantly peeled off to settle his debt as he told me “take a good look around and savour it, young fella, because after what you just pulled, you’re not gonna be coming back!” (I did two years later, and we laughed about my audacity to take his money on his home course).

The courses are wonderful, obviously, but the lasting value comes from the hosts, and the time and experience they generously share so you have the best possible time.

I know I can never pay any of those people back for what they’ve given me, so any time I host now, I try to do justice to the experiences I’ve had as a guest and show mine the best, most valuable and memorable time I possibly can.

Try to be someone worth paying a grand to play with — as far as aspirations go, it’s not a bad one.

I have played golf with Anthony and Pat and consider them both friends.  I have been invited to play with Ian and Gib and will hopefully one day get the chance.  All four of you are good and decent people and you all add to the site.

A lot of the time, I skip over what people write, but I do read everything the four of your write if I'm reading down a thread.

Please don't let unimportant things explode into full blown jihad.
