YOK 8 (coming) in Rome (aka The Lido, reborn))
« on: August 17, 2021, 09:56:26 PM »
Permission granted. The curtains over YOK 8 may now be drawn a bit.

A course is growing in, in Rome, Wisconsin.

We had a tour. We watched them work. We cannot wait.

The opportunity to see a nascent course is one that I simply won't pass up. My memory is erratic, like having a thousand balloons floating around my head, descending in unpredictable order and chronology. Perhaps that's why I took up the photography. My walk around a part of The Lido was breathtaking. Knowing what was to come, what we might be able to play in a few years (should we be fortunate enough to return) had me tearing up, and it wasn't the wind or sand.

One of my compas stood on a way-unfinished putting surface. He dragged his foot a fit and said, I just made a contour! I laughed and nodded, responding You'll influence golfers for centuries now.

I don't know about you, but that's as cool as golf gets.

Very cool...would love it if Peter Flory might be kind enough to give us a few virtual shots that match up with some pics?!?!

Cheers

I might have to call Craig H.,and ask for a walk-about after the season and before deer hunting.  I can still walk and identify the classic features and imagine the method of construction approach. Who'd have ever thunk it?  :o 8) ;D
No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

Thanks and no thanks* for the awesome pics.

*I was offered a position up there, but I declined because I'm obviously a moron. Hence the "no thanks".
Don't play too much golf. Two rounds a day are plenty.
