OT - In Appreciation of Tony Muldoon
« on: July 13, 2021, 12:10:18 PM »
The imminent Open Championship brings back fond memories of one of my greatest days playing the game.  In 2014 I caught the train from London down to Royal St. George's and enjoyed a solo round followed by the full lunch treatment.  Tony, who I had not met drove down form London to pick me up and host me at Deal that afternoon (even loaning me the use of his trolly), then drive us back to London.  All this during the Chelsea Flower Show where he had an exhibit.  I will always appreciate his hospitality and look upon that fine day fondly.  I feel so fortunate to have crossed paths with him, and with many of you as well.

Cheers Tony.

Well said Mike. Mr Muldoon is indeed a very generous and hospitable fellow and I'd like to think has become a good friend to not only myself but many others on this site.

Echoing the above posts, a game with Tony is always a pleasure. I remember he walked around Goswick with the GCA group a few years back when he was injured, and took it in turns to hop from one group to the next. He stayed with our group for 3 or 4 holes, and when he left, I remember thinking, 'I hope he comes back'! Until our next game Tony :)

Well said Mike.  Tony is a gentleman.  It was a pleasure playing with him at RCP.

How can anyone nicknamed "Spangles" not be brilliant????

Thanks for that. I always just thought Tony was an interesting poster. Now we know.

I have never been, but there is no way that Deal is not in my Top 3 in The World. Just too many great GCA friends there...

Just make sure you turn away while he’s putting. THAT could be catching.
Love the big bog-trotter. Spent many’s a fine day/evening in his always-enthralling company.

Tony is a gem!
