From what I understand, Willow Ridge effectively had no real choice but to accept the town's offer.

If the article is correct and the WRCC owners are able to appeal the FMV to the District Court, maybe they'll get something in between the forced settlement price and the net value of the land as entitled (SFR).  But if the venue is in the Southern DC which appears to be, the appeal may for naught.

Where would a city find 75 million dollars to buy a golf course? Where would a city find $#0 million dollars to buy a golf course?

The same thing happened or is happening here in Norfolk, VA.

Lester George designed the 9 hole Lambert's Point golf course on a landfill that was falling apart and polluting the Elizabeth River back in 2005. Now the Hampton Roads Sanitation District is going to buy the course for $30 million dollars!!!

Why? To expand the waste water treatment plant. Where does HRSD get the money? From the taxpayers who pay for waste water services. (like me)

When this was announced back in 2017, I emailed the HRSD and asked if they were over paying for waterfront property. They said, no, while a 9 hole golf course is not worth $30 million dollars, there is not any other locations that are available for less. I doubted their explanation then and still think they are overpaying the city of Norfolk. This seems like a back room deal between Norfolk and the HRSD. I wonder what the city of Norfolk is going to do with $30 million dollars. Probably expand the useless TIDE, the light rail train in Norfolk.

I believe once the ED option is exercised the governmental body can’t back out even if the price escalates to way way above the original counteroffer of the owners.
