I loved the sound of a low flying high speed golf ball ricocheting off of the water tank on #15 ...

Whoa godzilla that would have to be a very overclubbed shot.  I guess one could hit a flop shot wedge near the green that was thin and this could happen.

Kalen, Kalen, Kalen.  You are so good and upstanding and honest.

Obviously an UNINTENTIONAL pinging off that tank would take one hell of a whack.

It certainly can, however, be done intentionally; one just needs the requisite will.  And yes, it does make a rather unmistakable sound.  Or so I am told.

 ;)

Your a bad bad bad man....very bad!!! <in my best Seinfeld, shaking waggle>

Little kids are dying of dehydration world wide, and your pinging balls off water towers.  What if the tower broke and washed you over the ravine on 16 tee!!  That would learn you!!  ;D

When I was a yute, I wasn't as proficient with a sand wedge shot off of hardpan as I am today ...

When you were a yute, those huge trees surrounding said tower and protecting it from said skulls must have been tiny.  You must be ancient.

OHhhhhhhhh... never mind.

Here's an old thread on Lake Chabot for the bay area GCA guys that weren't that familiar with it.
I love golf, the fightin irish, and beautiful women depending on the season and availability.

Hadn't seen this one, thanks.

Some of the in-course OB is there for good reason--the drop-off into the woods is severe you'd need a rope and pickax to climb back up. In other places it's frivolous, but the woods are so thick that looking for your ball--much less playing it--would slow things down even further on a course where place-of-play is already an issue.

Agreed with those mentioning the short course, it's my kids favorite. It's has the feel of a "real" golf course, with 9 very different holes through a corridor where (other than on 4/5) you're isolated from the other holes on either course. Walking only!

I played here yesterday for the first time in 25 years.  For $24 which included the cart it's a pretty good deal.

They have 2 maybe 3 holes that are interesting.  I thought #16 was the best hole on the course.

Only 2 or 3?

I think at least half, if not more, of the holes are "interesting" especially when compared to the normal muni slogging.

Give the superintendent of this course a raise. Wow what a presentation of a tough piece of property to manage.

They have a new guy and he knows how to define fairways.  He has the rough cut back and has the greens running about a 9 or 10.  I'm sure he has a very limited staff and he's doing a pretty good job.  The greens are so small I expected them to be good and even the 9th hole which has a 200 foot drop wasn't loaded with ball marks.   About the only negative is the huge amount of kikuya that is taking over certain areas of the course.  Furthermore it seems every green is perfectly round???

What did you think of 18?  Is it still playing as a par 6?
How about the view from 15? Could you see both the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate?

Holy Hell, thanks for sharing that.

I've played that hole several times and couldn't even Par it.  The extreme downhill and then uphill on the 2nd part of the hole always did me in.

I'm guessing a few on GCA have Eagled it thou...
