Perhaps as a companion piece to the 1932 articles posted above, in 1933 the Brooklyn Times Union ran a 12 part series on courses in the Metropolitan area that could be played by the public.

Here are more than a dozen photos of Jackson Heights GC mostly from 1921 and a couple from 1922

Impressed again even a year later by Sven's unearthing of these articles detailing courses that in some cases barely saw the light of day as far as publicity.

I remember a few years ago I was invited to do a book discussion at a branch of the Great Neck Library, and while preparing the presentation, it dawned on me that this particular library happens to be located essentially at the center of the former grounds of the New Hyde Park GC (Sven's post #85).  Given that the presentation focused on local golf history and lost golf courses, I thought this would be compelling.

Unfortunately none of the octogenarians in attendance found it all that interesting -- instead they were more focused on my backstory of the Sound View Club in Great Neck, which some of them strongly refuted (despite news articles and other sources) b/c they knew the head of the homeowners' association (or something like that).

I like the photos, John, thank you. Any chance of identifying the people?

The metadata is embedded in some of the photos I have come across.  This is typically when, and where.  But, many times there is not a description of the people in the photo, but sometimes yes. The only way I can imagine to identify the people is to contact whoever took the photos.  Of course they are probably dead, as well as the people in the photos.  Another idea is to find out who transferred it to digital.  Sometimes they can help with that.  I don't really have an answer since all this is kinda new to me.  I am just searching for anything of note and regurgitating it to you guys, or to the appropriate club.
