Chautauqua Golf Club Restoration (fingers crossed) New
« on: April 23, 2020, 12:50:25 PM »
Chautauqua Golf Club has two golf courses. When they built the Hill course, late last century, they stole some holes from the Lake course. In the hands of Chris Wilczynski, they plan (operative word) to right that wrong. Here is an interview on returning all of a Ross course to what it once was.

I hope to see this happen.  I enjoy playing over there occasionally in the summer.  I have always been intrigued by what were the original holes and layout and put a little effort into this myself.  Here is one of the maps I created using an old aerial over the current course.

Here is the 1938 aerial as well.

More concerning to me is that Point Chautauqua's Golf Course (though they claim it a Ross and I have not been able to find anything that shows that) is now up for sale.  This is where my daughter's played their first 9 hole round and I enjoy playing to see who makes the drinks for the night with my father-in-law.  I don't imagine maintaining it as a golf course is viable, but I hope it doesn't become a bunch of condos.  I can't spot the $2.6 Million or I'd love to own it.  The write up clearly sees it being something else, I hope they are wrong.

This sounds expensive.
