Marion Hollins

I tried to get going a discussion of the golf architecture career of Marion Hollins by bumping the thread on the Women's National Golf and Tennis Club, that she founded.  But I guess I was too obtuse.
I'm sure that many of you know of her role in working with Alister MacKenzie on many of his projects, including Cypress, Pasatiempo and Augusta National.  She was honored this week by being inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.  Long overdue in my opinion.  I believe there needs to be more focus in the Golf HOF on historical figures like her; they helped make golf the game it is today.

There is a good podcast interview with David Owen about Marion Hollins on Geoff Shackelford's website:

Some very interesting discussion about the original plans for the development of AGNC. (think real estate/housing!)

There are a number of threads out there on Hollins.

This one is perhaps the most intriguing - https://www.golfclubatlas.com/forum/index.php/topic,46176.0.html

In connection with trying to decipher the Monterey maps, I did a bit of research on when Hollins moved to California.  Here are a few articles touching on that.

Jan. 4, 1923 San Francisco Examiner -

May 2, 1923 San Francisco Examiner -

April 23, 1925 Fresno Morning Republican -

Aug. 11, 1925 Los Angeles Evening Express -

There was a nice feature on Ms. Hollins during the rerun of the 2019 college tournament. It is interesting the problems a shortish course causes the college guys. Pasa is one of 6 or so courses that dwell in some weird area of my mind and pop into my head for no reason every few weeks. Apparently she went to Augusta for MacKenzie at least once to consult when he couldn't get there.
Did she ever get involved in an LA property?
