Bobby Jones's "Ideal" Course
« on: March 29, 2020, 03:49:22 PM »
Excellent find by Jim Nantz via Golf Digest: https://www.golfdigest.com/story/uncovering-bobby-jones-ideal-18-hole-golf-course

I was surprised by his inclusion of Augusta's No. 6 as a par 3 selection.

Curious to see what this group thinks of his picks.

Love his selection of 13 at TOC.

I had seen that list somewhere before, years ago -- and for a minute I wondered if it was another of those faux lists like the world top 100 made up by Tom MacWood and partners, years ago.  I hope not!

I was amused to see that Jones picked four holes from St. Andrews -- but not the Road hole or the Eden!  And I was surprised that one of his four was not the 4th hole, which he wrote about very well in his book Golf Is My Game.

@Tom Doak - Nantz refers to an essay by Jones that accompanied the list. It would be fun to read it and learn more about his selections.
