Port of Missing Men
« on: July 11, 2016, 10:58:40 PM »
Just wanted to take a second to thank Ran and everyone else who have offered and provided my late night reading material over the last decade or so.  Don't know why it has taken so long for me to jump into the discussion, but I look forward to being involved.

So, as per usual, I was doing google maps surfing the other night, looking for the great east end estate "Port of Missing Men" after some light internet reading on HH Rogers and his once enormous estate.  After finding the location after a quick survey I was sorta shocked to find a few holes laid out over the property.  Is anyone familiar with this estate layout and could provide more details.  Looks fairly new, and I believe I would have noticed it earlier as bird's eyeing the east end on google maps is a somewhat common pastime of mine.

Cheers,
Billie

Bump.

To clarify a bit: the land in question is very close to NGLA on the east end of Long Island, NY.
A fascinating story, still in the making.

The Cow Neck portion of the HH Rogers estate, The Port of Missing Men, was sold to Louis Bacon in the late 1990s, who had earlier acquired Robins Island just north of Cow Neck. He has "donated" both properties in the form of conservation easements, but they continue to be his private property and the easements permit limited development rights, including, it seems, the right to construct golf holes, which have begun appearing on the Cow Neck property over the past couple of years.

Story is two years old, still haven't heard any names connected to construction of the layout.  Anyone with information?

Whoever built it probably had to sign an NDA -- I've been told that Mr. Bacon is a very private fellow.

I can say that it was not me.

Tom,

Is this something you would agree to under a similar circumstance or under any circumstance?  I've never heard of a building architect having to sign an NDA or a painter/artist commissioned under an NDA agreement...
