Bill Charles

Bill,

You can change your game to fit any course. The course is static and your swing is not. I personally had to learn how to hit the ball straight giving up some distance in the process. It took a couple of years but it was worth it.

I see where this is going and I do not like it. Why should I give up distance to hit it straighter? What’s next are you going to advocate taking away options off the tee? Are you Nick?

Bill,

I live in a rural area with access to one great course. Changing my game so I could enjoy that course day after day seemed to be a small sacrifice to make. At a course where I am a national member I'm still trying to learn how to hit a bump and run chip. Sure it pisses me off that the locals know that shot better than me, but they are dying off at a prodigious rate. I'm sorry you don't see the fun in doing the work to improve.

The bump and run chip, pitch, or putt is the best shot in golf and allows for the most options making the courses that provide these shots the best courses that withstand the test of time. Those golfers may retire their clubs but there will be a new generation of golfers to replace those keeping golf timeless. The way it was always meant to be played.

Bill do you know Mark? He likes wide fairways, half par holes, and a St Andrew look. So much he wants every course to look like that including Bethpage. Perhaps you and Mark can make Bethpage and Tobacco road look like the old course?

This is a useless post.  You’ve contributed possibly hundreds of useless posts over the past two weeks.  I suggest you think twice before you continue to post, because you really come across as an ass.

Had I not seen their demands with my own eyes I would have thought the same thing but this actually happened! Mark tried to redesign Bethpage and Bill #2 tried to redesign Tobacco Road right here in this thread!

Tobacco Road is a fine design but there are areas of improvement. Some of the hard features about it like all the sand around the greens could be converted into collection areas and short grass which would make it even better. I do enjoy the course though.

This is real life man! Remove natural sand and put in short grass and collection areas. Who's the ass?
