French Lick or CC York ? Ross
« on: January 13, 2018, 04:01:58 PM »

I believe both of these Donald  Ross layouts have dramatic terrain.

Which of these have the most intriguing greens/ contours ?. Also which course has the most interesting holes and overall variety  1

were they both completed in the mid   1920s  ?

Thank you !

I would be thrilled if either course was my next round, Mark.

If forced to choose, I would go with FL as I like the terrain a bit more and I think it has more bold greens.

Never played FL but CC of York is a downright beautiful course. Guess a road trip is in order?
We have a pool and a pond, the pond would be good for you.

I have not played York but if it has greens as bold as French Lick's, that would be an accomplishment.

Thank you for the responses.  Joe,  your photos of French Lick  (1917) look like there is some very sporty fairway bunkering that introduces angles and strategy on several holes. The topography on 3 and 5 plus many other holes looks very compelling

Thank for the superb photo albums on both  courses !

If you were to make a road trip out from Philly, there are more than a few nice courses to hit on the way to French Lick.
