GCA Anniversary Poster Re-issued
« on: December 11, 2009, 11:10:13 AM »
Some of us have the original GCA Fifth Anniversary poster...mine adorns our office wall. Mike Hendren (who did most of the legwork) and I tried to make this a fund raising effort back in 2004. It sort of worked...but I'm am not sure how many Mike may still have in his garage! It was a fun endeavor, including the work to find classic icons to represent enthusiasts discussing golf architecture.

Thanks to my loving wife, the poster is available again. This time around it comes framed and in a slightly smaller size. Proceeds will go back to GCA as a way of thanking the founders for their effort and to help keep this site up and running. I hope we can generate some interest — perhaps we can devise a series, including a 10th Anniversary effort.

(Note: Please don't let this take the place of your annual support for GCA. Ideally this is a added means of support.)

Mine looks good on my wall too.  Hopefully some others will want to improve their office decor!

If you go visit Mike H. in TN, all you have to do is willfully be the brunt of some "Hello Kitty" jokes and he'll give you one of these.

I gladly paid the price, and am enjoying my poster.

The thought of Hello Kitty jokes and Mike is, well, not pleasant. The two simply do not go together — it would like Ben Crenshaw taking a three day backpacking adventure with John Daley.

Not terrific in terms of numbers, but thanks for the support. In January a tidy check will be sent to Ran for the posters sold.

I am preparing to send a check at the end of April — it is not very big   :-\

A good patron just ordered one a few weeks ago, but I can clearly see the economic slowdown is eating into such purchases. Tom D. should buy a few   ;)   and so should Brauer, Ward, etc.

Forrest,

My print looks great and (as a former UPS employee back in college) you guys did the single greatest packing job for a shipment that I've ever seen.  It was beyond protected for transit.  Well done  :)

I will pass that compliment on to the shipping wizards! Glad you enjoyed it. My print is one of the originals (from 5-6 years ago) and it hangs on my office wall for all to appreciate.

It would have been appropriate to click for the 2009 — but, why not...11 is a good number, too.

It bears mentioning that these posters were originally printed in Nashville at Hatch Show Print, a legendary letterpress shop that began operations in 1879.  The store on Lower Broadway should not be missed on a trip to Nashville.  Hatch has chronicled the American music industry, notably country music, for a century.

As 2018 begins I am bumping this very old (14 years!) thread. Valerie still has these on hand. Proceeds to to Golf Club Atlas, but it has been years since any have been ordered. They are quite nice. I have one on my office wall.

Forrest,
I would be happy to acquire such a legendary poster.  Methinks it would best be sent to me in Oz as an unframed item in a cylinder pack.
Please let me now what the shipping cost and picture cost is and how/where I make the payment.

Cheers Colin

OK, the gang here in not all that cheap ... a few orders have come in, and it is appreciated. Valerie reports that we can get some of the posters shipped, and a few $$ can go to GCA to help offset costs. Way to go!!
