Indiana CC in Indiana, PA
« on: June 22, 2017, 07:51:55 PM »
My daughter is playing an event at Indiana CC on Monday, and I've heard good things about the course. I'm looking forward to checking the course out, but would be interested to know what particular things I should pay attention to or look for.

If anyone's got any feedback or advice, please let me know. When watching girls golf, believe me, I have plenty of time to walk around and look at other things.  ;)

Some great original Willie Park Jr. holes in that mix but a few questionable additions in the interest of creating 18 holes.

There is still plenty of WPJr left at Indiana CC (my post crossed with my buddy Mike).

Agreed on a few questionable holes but overall a fun course that is always in great shape. PA Golf Association has qualifiers/events there regularly. Their long time superintendent just left to go to Sunnehanna where I play - he's done an excellent job. Good luck!

My former associate Bruce Hepner has consulted there for 15-20 years but I never visited myself so I can't share the details of what he's done.

I enjoyed touring the course yesterday in following (or staying ahead of) my daughter.

The par threes seemed a bit weak, though there are five. It's obvious too that the course is older by the fairway widths and contours, and yet I was surprised at the relative lack of undulation to the greens - I wondered if they were softened at any point in time. Only a few greens had what I would call the big contours.

Unfortunately I didn't have the chance, of course, to walk down the fairways or really spend much time studying anything. I only really could get a brief glance at things. But I enjoyed it, and the photo tour (thanks Joe) helped me prepare to see as much as I could in the short time I had to consider the course over what my daughter was doing in playing it.  :)

Thank you.
