Newcastle in Australia has this feature.  I also like being able to grab something that you forgot after the 2nd green.

Not exactly the same, but the course I grew up playing had #11 come back after playing #10 from the clubhouse. Interestingly enough there was a previous routing in which that #11 also returned to the clubhouse. Both holes have been #18 at one point in the course's history.

Hoylake, when they have The Open there, play 17 & 18 as 1 & 2.

Westwood Country Club in Cleveland has this feature as well (CH Alison design).  I'm not sure it has any great benefit to the course other than allowing for extra heckling by friendly members on the 3rd tee.

I have only played that routing.  As a result I struggle with the regular hole numbers.  One good aspect to the Open routing is you postpone playing the brutal first for a couple of holes!

The approach on the second hole at the vaunted Dyker Beach appears to require a shot back into the clubhouse itself.

And I saw Deepdale mentioned - while it's back in the direction of the clubhouse, it's not going toward it. You don't really even see the clubhouse playing that hole. I had to think hard as to how it was applicable to this thread.

This is a lovely list. But I think a more interesting question is, are these purposeful?

You don't really start hard by the house, but Cavendish comes back to the first tee....same thing for Cleeve Cloud, Reddish Vale, Ganton, Harlech, Little Aston & Minch Old.

You can go straight from the second green to the parking lot at Wannamoisett and given how difficult the first two holes are, I'm sure many a player have decided to just jump back in their car instead of continuing on

It appears that George Thomas looked for these opportunities.  Not sure about any other architects.

Bill,

We have a member of our Sunday group who consistently shows up seconds before our tee time. He tells us just tee off and I'll catch you on #2. Thankfully #2 on both courses is 700 yards away! If the second hole did return to the starting point I'm afraid he would be even more tardy!

Perhaps transportation was more unreliable in the 20's and golfers being late to the tee was an issue. Shame TEP isn't still a member or he could give us the low down. :D

Harker's Hollow - NJ Robert White

Original routing of Hershey West ( McCarthy) played away from the house and then 180-degrees back to below the house to the side.

None of these have the second green as close as Wissahickon. Then again, few greens on the planet are as close to a building as that.

In June I will be riding the first three stages of this year's Tour de France route for charity.  630km (394 miles) in three days, with 7800m (25,600 feet) of climbing for the William Wates Memorial Trust (https://rideleloop.org/the-charity/) which supports underprivileged young people.
