Here's to hoping this news develops:

Just maybe the Panorama course can be brought back to the deliver the experiences described in Links Magazine in 2007 http://www.linksmagazine.com/golf_travel/balsams-grand-resort

I had the impression when I was in New Hampshire and Maine that the new owner of The Balsams is leaning pretty hard on the state government for tax breaks so he can "create jobs" with the help of government money.  I did not read all the articles in detail, but they have been talking about reopening the resort for a few years now, and it seemed that government "support" has been the missing ingredient.

I tend to agree with this assessment.  Les Otten has a strong history of revitalizing ski areas (and their ancillary hotels/golf properties), and this one just needs a push from the (skeptical as of yet) local goverment.

There are strong bones and history with the Balsams (including Ross, a great old hotel, and the ballot room), and judging by the aerial photos, someone is still mowing the green complexes every now and again awaiting the project to get going.
So I jump ship in Hong Kong....

Unique place! Played it once about 15 years ago when I lived in Burlington...remember thinking highly of it.
