River Oaks in Houston
« on: July 08, 2015, 04:21:27 PM »
River Oaks which is a Donald Ross 1923 course and one of the more prestigious courses in Houston is undergoing a substantial renovation led by Tom Fazio.

Does anyone know if this is a renovation or restoration?  I heard last week that this is another one of Fazios jobs in which he talked a BOD into bulldozing a classic course to build his own.  Granted Rees Jones had screwed it up in the 1970s.

Certain members felt they could renovate the course and have the best Ross course in Texas.  Now it appears they will have the 2nd best Fazio course in Houston.

Definitely a renovation (and a good one at that).  Some big changes and some subtle changes.  The finished product will be an improvement and should impress.

Donald Ross left River Oaks a long time ago.

I think this will be a rip and replace - end up a brand new course.  I thought most of the Ross was already taken out...

Nuzzo & Don are the Project Managers.
Perhaps they'll post.
