Scottsdale golf course completes $8.5 million renovation
Terravita Golf & Club has reopened after completing an $8.5 million renovation and enhancement project.
Golf course architect Phil Smith oversaw the seven-month renovation project while Heritage Links did the construction work on the north Scottsdale golf course, which opened in 1994.During construction, all 18 greens were redesigned, rebuilt and grassed using TifEagle Bermuda grass; tee boxes were repositioned; fairways were reshaped; and a new state-of-the-art irrigation system was installed. All bunkers were also strategically repositioned, reshaped and rebuilt incorporating a technically advanced drainage and liner system featuring Capillary Concrete. This new generation lining method is designed to increase the speed at which water flows through the bunker, minimizing washouts and reducing maintenance costs.

This is a residential course.

Steve:

The Terravita website notes they are a Walker friendly golf course.
That must be rare in Arizona - I would think.

Terravita is a residential course. As such, it isn't all that walking friendly. Green to tee distances are what you'd expect for a residential community.

Golf is a private membership with limited spots for non-residents (of the community).

The interesting elements of the renovation to me are - (1) did they use a grass that doesn't need to be overseeded, and (2) did they fix the 10th hole? Unless we get biblical rains this winter, water restrictions will start to kick in soon. I suspect that we'll see at least part of most courses stay dormant in the future. Desert Mountain has been experimenting with this. And the 10th hole was a "Moe Norman Wedge 3-wood" special - there was a waste area that split the hole in half which resulted in a layup off the tee with a longer approach shot to the green.
