Border Collie or Fireworks. Since it's Texas, we know that you like to make things go bang. However, in New York, they use the dogs. Every super has one..EVERY SUPER!

There's a small group that winter over on or near our course, but the migrating geese rarely stay.  Yeah, they crap on the fairway but it's not a big deal, and the mowers handle the turds.  During spring clean up the turds have dried and a drag mat around the approaches and greens breaks them down and they are mowed and vacuumed up.  The Super has a dog that runs the geese off but by evening they are back on the course
LOCK HIM UP!!!

Have you ever seen a Canada goose in a stream?

Yes, actually, but not on a golf course.  There's a creek across the street from m house where we occasionally see some geese.

Border collie will do the job.

Yup, our course paid a guy to bring his border collie out at one time.
I have heard of a club buying one for their super.

Lou,

On behalf of all Canadians, we are sorry.

Our club in Canada bought our superintendent a dog to help keep geese off the course.  We also hire a company to round up the geese after the babies have been born but before they can fly....which usually keeps us goose free for several months.

Huge problem in Northeast. Not that the super needs more work but most of the time it's a dog or dogs chase ...geese fly into lake and then super or assistant has a motorized toy boat chase them off. Geese swim better than  dogs ...After a little time , no more geese as they fly off to annoy someone else

I hate geeses to pieces

AG,

I completely sympathize with the plight of geese struggles, but the irony of the situation is a bit amusing.

1)  Create golf course that includes in many cases artificial water hazards
2)  Maintain  those hazards with conditions ideal for Geese survival: maintained grasses, great sight lines, easy pond access, abundant food resources, etc.
3)  Throw in the occasional passing golfer to spook/scare off natural predators.
4)  Geese settle in, tear up surrounding turf and convert area to a poop farm.
5)  Golfers then drive themselves nuts bemoaning how to deal with the problem they created and pay to support.

;D

Severally on the occasion of everything that thou doest, pause and ask thyself, if death is a dreadful thing because it deprives thee of this. - Marcus Aurelius
