My "played" list is neither extensive nor distinguished, so the Play Again list is pretty easy:

1.  Pebble Beach
2.  East Lake
3.  Lahinch
4.  Waterville
5.  The European Club

Because of the above, my "To Play" list is pretty long, but to limit it to five, in order:

1.  Augusta National
2.  Cypress Point
3.  The Old Course
4.  Ballybunion
5.  Pine Valley

Being an old time easterner, I have a hard time looking back.  But my forward look from the "green tees" would have to say the following favorites today - 12/4/04 - are:

      Kittansett
      Wannamoisett
      Long Cove
      Hawks Nest
      Merion West

My plan to see for the first time in 2005 are:

       Augusta National
       Casa de Compo
       Royal Dornoch
       Narin
       Brandon Dunes

May I live so long!  Thanks GCA

Odd... I never answered this question 3 years ago.  But, trying to answer it now, I can see why it is a hopeless exercise.  There are simply too many "must see's" to boggle the mind.  And, there are now several that didn't even exist back in 2001 to compound the impossible choices.

Trying to return as often or whenever possible:

Wild Horse, a given
Sand Hills, hopefully again
Sutton Bay, a probable
Rustic Canyon, anytime I am near there
Kingsley Club, to finish the semi-round sampler

The dream list never seen:
Barbougle Dunes, cheating the list of 5 and sneaking in the whole NZ-Cape Kidnappers, OZ-Royal Melbourne usual suspects as a rota, as it would be a rare trip of a lifetime, even if I could ever only get so lucky as to see one of them.

Friars Head, as Ran's black and white photos keep running by me on my extensive screen saver slide show of great courses, I continue to be mesmerized by the new Long Island masterpiece.

Pac Dunes, another cheater destination pick to sqeeze in what is now three great courses in one trip, and well within the realm of reality for me to actually access.

Pine Valley, can all these people taking pie plate showers and calling it #1, be wrong?

Cypress Point, what would a dream be without the yearn to go to heaven at the end? ;D 8)

There, you see... the afterthought...  Where do I get BallyBunion and Ireland in there?  The whole exercise is too much for the dream cycle to process... ::)

The next time you are in the UK, let me know.  I would be delighted to give you a game at Pennard.  I haven't mentioned Pennard as a place to get back to, but it is always a thrill to pass through Kittle and know what lies ahead.

Ciao
