I read Every Shot Counts by Mark Broadie, who created the Strokes Gained metric and really like what he is doing. I use a spreadsheet found on another site that helps me calculate my Strokes Gained during my round.

Capturing the data on the course is a bit intensive. I had to create my own little pocket sized-sheet I use to write down the information. But I am a self-diagnosed excel/data junkie.

I just felt the traditional stats (GIR/Fairways/etc) wasn't telling me things I didn't already know.
