Hello all,
I am planning a golf trip to Tampa with a few friends this January. I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions as to what courses I had to visit.

I have already played streamsong and innisbrook. Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance.

How many in your group?
Do you have access to private or are you looking for daily fee?
What's your budget?
Where are you staying and how far are you willing to drive?

When I was in the area a few years ago, I drove up to World Woods and played the Pine Barrens course.  I didn't love it as much as the raters do, but it's excellent value, if that's important to you, and among the best public tracks in the area.  You can book on golfnow for dirt cheap.  I think I played it in December for like $35 or something.

For a nice public course trip, which I've done many times with usually 8 guys total, is to rent one of the houses World Woods has near the course and play WW, Brooksville, and Dunes Club of Seville.

If you are looking to do some driving and see more courses and have excellent accommodations at each place, you could do this:

1/2 day(s) at World Woods.
1/2 day(s) at Lake Jovita.
1/2 day(s) at Streamsong.

Each have two courses.

Thanks for the replies.  All very good ideas. I definitely have a lot to think about.  

We are a group of 4 and we are willing to spend probably up to 200 for a round.  We do not have access to any private courses but are looking for the best course for the money.  We are willing to stay anywhere and are not above staying in some cheap motel. This trip is all about golf!!

World Wood seems like it may make the list, especially if golf now can make it pretty cheap.

Also streamsong may get a second play from me.  My friends deserve to see it.

I haven't played it but those who have speak very highly of the Bobby Weed renovation of Brooksville CC, particularly the back nine quarry holes.   And the Friday night open-to-all dinner is really fun too.  I did make that.   ;D

I would certainly recommend OM, Palma Ceia and perhaps Avila as wonderful private options in Tampa.   However, access to those clubs on short notice is a pretty tall order this time of year.
