7th hole at Augusta National - Arthur Weaver painting New
« on: September 06, 2013, 09:47:45 AM »
I noticed this painting, or rather print, hanging at a golf club.

As you will see, second photo, there is a small notice attached to the rear of the print that states '"The Masters" 1960'. The third photo, unfortunately it's rather blurred (I shall attempt to post a better one), is I imagine the signature of the painter.

Can anyone shed any light on this painting? I was also wondering which ANGC green is in the foreground?

All the best.

PS - I note the 'shagginess' around the green in the foreground. So unlike what we see from ANGC on TV these days.

Looks like it says "7" on the flag.  That would appear to be accurate given the bunkers and location of the clubhouse in the distance.

The painter is Aurthur Weaver. He did several "Masters" paintings.

I agree with Mike.  I'd say with some certainty that it is the right side of #7 green looking northeast up the hill to the clubhouse.

Nice photo Mike.

It is the 7th green and you can notice the 3rd tee next to the green and the 2nd green in the distance in the painting.

Thanks for the help guys. Appreciated. 7th hole then.

I've just done some brief googling about Arthur Weaver. British artist, 1918-2008. He seemed to do a great many golf course paintings plus other landscapes. Should you be interested here is a link to some within the 'images' area in the google search engine - https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=arthur+weaver+paintings&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&biw=1012&bih=466&bvm=pv.xjs.s.en_US.jkEW54nYU50.O&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=r_UpUtGiIaqd0AXtwYBw
