Was actually looking for the "Best US OPen Stories" thread, which I didn't find, but this is as good a place as any to tell it.
At the 1970 Open at Hazeltine, I was following Lee when he hit a tee ball in the (surprisingly, maybe) left rough, right by me and just inside the ropes. Having heard he advertised the new Faultless Cut Proof Ball, but actually played Titleist, I leaned in to see what brand it was. However, the label was down in the deep rough, and I could see the first letter, but not sure if it was an F or a T. I must have struggled to see it longer than I thought, because the next thing I know, Trevino had arrived, and was standing over me, telling me to back up because "my seven iron in your forehead is no kind of souvenir to take home from the US Open!"
